Want your 3rd Party Apps Back to your iPhone?

by Jorge on September 30, 2007

Do you have an iBrick right now? Do you updated to firmware 1.1.1 by mistake? Do you miss your native IM Client and NES Games Collection?

Now you can Downgrade from 1.1.1 Firmware to 1.0.2 Hackable Firmware

Isn`t this good news? You bet they are.

If you just bougth a new 1.1.1 iPhone or upgraded to this 1.1.1 scary update by mistake, this is your lucky day.

Jesus Diaz From Gizmodo confirmed on video the downgrade from version 1.1.1 to 1.0.2. Being succesfull at his attempt.

Lets start and Unbrick our iPhones:

1. Make sure you have a copy of the 1.0.2 firmware or get it from Apple site(maybe they will remove this later on)

stored in:

youruser/library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates

2. Reboot iPhone holding top (power) and home buttons *BUT* release the top button exactly 10 seconds (I recommend to use stopwatch) into it
3. The iPhone screen will appear to be off, but start iTunes (latest version worked for me on the Mac)
4. Option+Click restore and select the 1.0.2 firmware ipsw

stored in:

youruser/library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates

5. The phone will restart and error out at the end, this is expected
6. Shutdown iTunes
7. Launch the latest iNDpendence or iBrickr
8. Jailbreak the phone using a decrypted 1.0.2 (it will flash all sorts of error, but stick with it)
9. Activate the phone
0. It will show the SIM error but you should be able to get back in
11. AT&T Users: Reset your iPhone before you start using your phone again. Failure to do so may result in you being charged for your “free services.”

You have your iPhone back to life!

You can start playing with your Apps again too.

The phone part doesn`t work yet, but we now see unlocking progress here, this method only works with the Firmware downgrade on a virgin 1.1.1 phone.

The firmware downgrade form a virgin 1.1.1 phone DOES NOT work,
Read:

It has been confirmed several times that this method DOES NOT work, either on phones that were upgraded to 1.1.1 from 1.0.2 or that came stock with 1.1.1. Conclusion: We require a secpack from the 1.1.1 firmware first, as the old 1.0.2 secpack fails to allow write access to the 1.1.1. baseband.

how did you downgrade it because when i follow what is done on the vid, once i get to jailbreak they tell me to downgrade….i thought it was done?????

Jorge 10.21.07 at 6:00 pm

After you downgrade and get the error message on iTunes you need to close iTunes and Open INdependence and you are ready to activate and Jailbreak

Cassiee 10.22.07 at 5:07 am

Okay so all my steps are done until I have to launch iNdependence, and activate it on jailbreak. It says you have to open a file, …specificly not “firmware” but another folder? the iphone restore download folder, didnt even have a firmware folder or anything. I am STUCK, and need help. I’ve done all the steps to downgrade my iphone, but I’ve been working at this activate part for hours. can’t figure out… so i’m done for the night. will it ruin my iphone if i’ve stopped during this process? please help me! :!: :?:

Well you will need to download this file

http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/iPhone/061-3823.20070821.vormd/iPhone1,1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore.ipsw

Once is downloaded to your desktop or anywhere you get the .ipsw termination to .zip

then you unzip the file and you get a folder. Remember that name

then open independence and when it request a folder open the folder created form the extracted zip file

Dont open the Firmware folder, just the first one and click OPEN and that should activate your phone and then you should jailbreak

and aplle mac unpack the zip to floder
and i see insider of floder i couldn’t see the 1.0.2 .ipsw??

when i download the 1.0.2 software it is zip and mac unzip to floder
and i couldn’t see the 1.0.2 .ipsw insider
whta’s wrong?

When you download this file
http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/iPhone/061-3823.20070821.vormd/iPhone1,1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore.ipsw

you are going to get a .ipsw

copy that file and change the .ipsw termination to .zip and extract it

That is going to be your folder to use when independence request the firmware.

if you are in windows use iBrickr
