iPhone Sim Free Unbricking and Unlocking 1.1.1 Firmware

by DailyMac on October 12, 2007

iPhone Sim Free now provides an unlocking solution for the 1.1.1 firmware. If you want a free solution you must need to wait (patience is a virtue right?), but now the iPhone Dev Team decrypted the ramdisk and gain access to the secpacks that means a free unlock coming soon.

In this video an iPhone with firmware 1.0.2 that was unlocked with anySim, one of the free software unlocks. Then updated to firmware 1.1.1 using iTunes and then downgrade to 1.0.2

Once you are in 1.0.2 you need to install iPhone Sim Free software through AppTapp and Safari. The iPhone Sim Free unlock fixed the baseband firmware and unlocked all normaly.

Jesus Diaz From Gizmodo.com then updated to the 1.1.1 firmware using iTunes and the iPhone was deactivated. Then you need to use the Dev Team’s 1.1.1 jailbreak and activation method (If you used anySIm or iUnlock dont upgrade to 1.1.1 you will get a brick). Once you did that, the unlock was fully functional and available to make calls.

I may predict that the free software unlock for 1.1.1 is going to be released this week end, i am going to take my chances but this is only a prediction ;) the iPhone Dev Team work fast!
