UPDATE: Here is a Video Tutorial, Jack suggested on the comments
I really like this modification that d.ballance made for his iPhone. It’s elegant and the iPhone should come standard with this touch. You pay 500+ dollars and you deserve top of the quality materials.
Let’s see how d.ballance accomplishes this look.
Using a little patience, masking tape, and brilo pad, I was able to take of the annoying iPod-esque material that was chosen to line the sides of the phone.
Turned out great, and applied the invisible shield.
This modification its brilliant ![]()

i did the same mod. i took the phone apart and sand blasted the chrome area. then i hit it up with sand paper and got a cool brushed metal look. I also changed the housing with the black cnn case.it looks great. if anyone wants pictures i got em.

Wonder how steel wool would work instead of brilo pad? I’m gonna try it.
howang - I’d love to see those photos, but cnn is out of the black backs right now!! AHH!
alright im curious of the brush metal finish, i like the results that you get in the end but im torn at the moment because i have OCD i love for my products to be in perfect shape (just in case i want to sell it later on down the line) but people have suggested metal polish which im concidering, but do you recommend to do this process with the iphone 3g? (the brush look on the chrome)because i see pics and videos only for the 2g models so im kinda nervious to make any moves please let me know and thanks in advance!
