Apple Inc. gained nearly 2 percentage points in notebooks sales, receiving 14.3% of sales in the US, verse 12.5% of sales in April. This gain puts Apple in fourth place for notebook sales. The rise is largely credited to the mid May update to the 13.3 inch Mac Books.
While Apple’s notebook sales rose healthily, the computer manufacturer’s desktop line saw virtually no growth; Sales went from 10.2% of the US market share to just 10.5%. Although small, this gain is going against the overall industry trend. Desktop sales are falling, as new laptop technology has put the two on an equal playing field.
